BIRKENSTOCK 1774 presents Eternal Sunshine, a two-part collection in tribute to Los Angeles and its eclectic energy that has transcended the eras. The campaign captures the essence of L.A. in a series of blissful scenarios, wearing the new repertoire of shapes and fabrics in citrus hues mixed with shades
of blue, olive and burgundy to evoke memories of endless summers under the sun. The images portray a utopic vision of time, where the abundance of light is the source of energy.
This collection celebrates the BIRKENSTOCK archive by featuring icons and archetypes in new fabrications and finishings such as leather piping and signature monochromatic buckles. The season’s materials are made with specialized techniques that contrast rustic with pop, modern with retro; reminiscing Southern California’s nostalgic attributes of the later 20th century.
June Edit
The first release features the Arizona and Milano in spray-painted raffia as a natural homage to surf culture’s Golden Age of the 1960’s. Serving as a nod to plexiglass interior design of the 1970’s, the Arizona and Florida in milky PVC purposely meld with the unique skin tone of the wearer.
August Edit
The 80’s come out on the Madrid and Milano in glazed leather with a luxurious and slick hand that recalls sweaty summer nights. Stone-washed denim which is made to age and soften over time wraps the Arizona and Milano silhouettes. This edit features the new Eliscu which transforms a clog silhouette into the ideal home shoe well-adapted to be worn outdoors and the Sylt slide sandal, both quilted with contrast stitching classical of denim workwear. Made in light and dark washed denim with leather covered footbeds, they represent a testament to L.A.’s laid-back nature and the lived-in comfort of the 90’s.
Eternal Sunshine will be released in two edits, starting on June 20th, then again in August 2024 on 1774.com and select global retailers.
