The relationship between the two brands was formed during New York Fashion Week when Salomon footwear was styled on the runway with Sandy Liang's Spring/Summer 2021 collections, introducing Salomon's technical and outdoor-inspired footwear to a wider audience.
This collaboration broadens the shared worlds of Sandy Liang and Salomon, pushing the boundaries of style and performance. “Salomon and Sandy Liang are both brands that thrive off of our own history,” said Sandy Liang of the shared brand values. “We are not trend-driven and are committed to making great products, figuring out who we are and designing for the moment we are in."
Sandy Liang and Salomon reinvigorate the traditional style of the Salomon RX Moc 3.0 and the XT-6 Expanse Plus with a sporty edge and prioritize original design elements rather than being driven by trends.
"There is a sportiness to Salomon that resonates with me,” said Liang about the personal nature of her design references. “Growing up in the 90s, I loved wearing sneakers. I incorporated this into my design process, tapping into nostalgic colorways and details like the anime inspired flower decal seen throughout the capsule."
