Fashion house - 12/8/20

What if gifts fell from the sky? What if the shoes and accessories of your dreams landed at your feet by surprise? What if that dream became a reality? That is the magic proposed by Roger Vivier for its traditional holiday movie, Neverending Christmas, where the very couture house codes and style are showcased with a mischievous touch. Virginie Ledoyen is the elegant, whimsical heroine of this short film, the work of Creative Director Gherardo Felloni.
Virginie Ledoyen plays a young woman dining alone on Christmas Eve. As she gets ready to take her place at the table, she trips on a gift package. She unwraps it to discover a pair of red velvet Vivier Marlene sandals and a card asking her to sing a song. So she does... And another gift falls in front of her. Inside is a magnificent bag, the Viv’ Cabas Flower Strass ZigZag. Along with another card, asking her to bake a cake. As she prepares a pièce montée, a superb pair of pink Belle Vivier Cuissarde boots appears. This time, a holiday bauble guides her to a Christmas tree, where a sparkling pair of stilettos awaits. Bad news: the card tells her to wake up. It was all just a dream. She finds herself all alone again. Except that a Christmas ornament rolls across the floor, leading her to a gift. The dream is real after all!
Virginie Ledoyen brings an impish spirit to this Christmas story of a new genre, vintage in allure and contemporary in spirit. The French actress, known for her many memorable roles in French and foreign cinema, brings to mind the young Alice of Lewis Carroll lore. Her playfulness on the screen is shared by Maison Roger Vivier which, in addition to its lifetime connection with cinema, also knows how to combine elegance with humor. “I’ve always admired Virginie, and when I came up with the story for this film, I thought she would be perfect,” explains Gherardo Felloni. “She has a very enigmatic presence, and that is exactly what I wanted to see on the screen.” The idea enticed Virginie Ledoyen. “I immediately wanted to immerse myself in this world,” confesses the actress, “and to have fun with the screenplay, which is both very natural and very stylized.”
This uncommon balance of different styles – this play on codes – reflects Gherardo Felloni’s approach to Roger Vivier. And the accessories that appear in the film are proof of that. The yellow velvet of the handbag shines even more brightly because it is embroidered with rhinestones, while the pink over-the-knee boots, adorned with ostrich feathers, promise sensational glamour. As do the silvery rhinestone stilettos and the red mules featuring a little heel bedecked with a small, shiny sphere like a tiny disco ball. These precious pieces are all like Christmas gifts: presents to be unwrapped with enthusiasm, accessories that make the fantasy and the dream everlasting.
